Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026 (alpha)
Litly helps neighbors discover and borrow physical books. This policy describes what we collect during the early alpha and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, password (stored as a hash), and optional bio.
- Location data: neighborhood label and map coordinates you provide at registration. Coordinates power nearby discovery on the map.
- Library data: books you add, borrow requests you send or receive, and shelf photos you upload for catalog scanning.
- Technical data: request logs including a request ID for troubleshooting.
How we use information
- Operate authentication, email verification, and borrow workflows.
- Show your library and approximate location to other signed-in, verified users for discovery.
- Process shelf photos with our OCR provider when you use catalog scanning (beta).
Sharing
We do not sell your data. Shelf OCR may be sent to Google Cloud Vision when that provider is enabled. Book metadata may be fetched from Open Library and Google Books. Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap contributors.
Retention and security
Data is stored on our servers while your account is active. We use HTTPS in production, hashed passwords, and access controls appropriate for an alpha release.
Your choices
You can update your profile in Settings. To delete your account during alpha, contact the Litly team at the address listed on the site.
